Where to go for a Cup of Joe

There’s no denying that Bristol loves coffee and here in Bemmy you can get some of the best brews around.

TinCan Coffee

Relatively recent addition to North Street but caffeine fans already wonder what they did before it came along. They do a decent trade in cakes, dessert pots and savoury snacks but the coffee is the king here, served by people who know what they are doing.

Coffee #1

Like Dr Who's TARDIS, this venue looks compact from the street but opens out into a very generous space once you walk in the door. Established Bristol chain whose founders are, by their own admission, a bit geeky about beans and brewing, which adds up to some quality drinks for the rest of us.

Hennesey’s

Close to the North Street/Dean Lane roundabout you'll find the delights of Hennesy's, where the friendly staff know many of their customers by name and also know plenty about coffee. There are some lovely nooks and crannies towards the back where you can find peace and quiet. Their cakes deserve a mention too.

INTERNATIONAL CUISINE

TAKE A CULINARY TRIP AROUND THE WORLD WITHOUT LEAVING BS3

EL RINCON, NORTH STREET

Authentic Spanish bar where you can eat proper tapas that will remind you of a Mediterranean holiday. Small but perfectly formed, as the Renault advert used to say. The lack of space means you'll get to know your neighbours pretty well.

VIVA LA MEXICANA, EAST STREET

Viva La Mexicana is a Mex-Mex restaurant rather than Tex-Mex. They are members of Sabores Autenticos de Mexico, an organisation whose membership is open only to restaurants that promote authentic Mexican cuisine.

AL’S TIKKA GRILL, ASHTON ROAD

Al’s Tikka Grill has long been Bedminster’s best kept secret. Serving a variety of delicious Indian dishes, from tikka masalas and Bhunas to Jalfrezis, Pathias and Madras, Al’s offers some of the tastiest curries you’ll find anywhere in the city…. well that’s the secret out!

SOUK KITCHEN, NORTH STREET

You'll need to book well in advance to get a weekend table here due to the high quality of the food which has attracted a big following locally. Try the flatbread starter, the dips will open your taste buds up to previously untried experiences.

JASPER'S JAMAICAN DINER, NORTH STREET

A taste of Jamaica in the heart of Bedminster, Jaspers serves Caribbean favourites such as jerk chicken and pork, all accompanied by the ever-popular rice and peas. You're sure of a friendly welcome here.

THALI CAFE

SERVING SIMPLE BUT EXOTIC FOOD WITH A SELECTION OF DELICIOUS DISHES DELIVERED TO YOUR TABLE ON ONE STEEL DISH. PLENTY OF HOUSEHOLDS ACROSS THE CITY HAVE THEIR THALI TINS, WHICH YOU CAN TAKE DOWN AND FILL WITH FOOD TO ENJOY AT HOME.

La Mediterranean, North Street

La Mediterranean is a family run cafe/bar/restaurant situated in the heart of Bristol's vibrant North Street. With authentic Turkish, Greek and Mediterranean dining, in a cosy but modern environment with warm friendly service and outstanding value, this is perfect place to spend an evening with good company and good food.

New Year's Resolutions - Stop Smoking

Another common resolution that all too often gets left behind come February. But if you want to kick the habit for good, there’s no shame in getting help and the wonderful guys at Bedminster Pharmacy can do just that. Pop in the store or give them a call to find out about how they can help you quit for good this year.
