East Street Market to kick off Christmas in Bedminster

The Christmas shopping season will get underway in Bedminster with the annual East Street Fayre on Saturday, November 25th.  With live music, real reindeer, street markets, fairground rides and much more its set to be the perfect festive family day out.

A new feature this year will be the ‘Christmas Chalkwalk’. This unique addition to the market will allow families to make their own greetings card using festive murals drawn in chalk on the street. Visitors can either use chalk designs already there or make their own to create a card that is truly unique.

The Christmas Chalk Walk is a great chance for families and friends to get creative and create and star in their own festive Christmas card creation. Taking place at St Catherine’s Way, Christmas Chalkwalk will also feature a competition element, as the three best designers will each be awarded a streetart workshop for themselves and a friend with Upfest and renowned local street artist SPZero76.

The amazing folk at Toyville have also donated some prizes for little ones, with street art packs up for grabs for the best kids murals.

The whole street will be closed to allow a feast of entertainment to get underway – including the chance to visit Santa himself in his grotto. With Rudolph, Dasher and Dancer set to accompany him, younger visitors will be able to get an early taste of Christmas spirit.

There will be more than 20 stalls offering unique gift ideas, selling everything from Christmas decorations and jewellery to clothing and home wares. Choirs singing carols and live buskers will ensure the whole day takes place with a proper Christmas soundtrack.

Run by the organisers of other popular BS3 events such as Make Sunday Special Bedminster, the event will start at 11am with all of East Street closed to traffic. On top of Santa’s visit at the Christmas Chalkwalk there will also be arts and craft workshops for families to get stuck into.
