It may be summer now, but the group behind the Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade is already preparing for winter! Organisers say however, the three month project can only go ahead if sufficient funds are raised by the end of July.

This year they’ve set up a brand new Community Lanterns Fund and you can donate by Paypal. Every £1 contributed counts…from tea parties, cake sales, sponsored runs…Details are on the bwlp website; www.bwlp.org.uk.

Volunteers from the group will also be visiting local businesses along the Parade route for donations and sponsorship. Already Andrews Estate Agents, solicitors Barcan Kirby and Mark’s Bread, have pledged their support, as well as the Bedminster Business Improvement District.

BWL Chair, Malcolm Brammer, says “our message is clear, BS3 its down to you. If you want another spectacular community event this winter, please make it happen by making a donation to our online bucket before the end of July.”

Organisers are hoping to start the project in local schools and community centres this autumn with a Parade date still to be finalised.
