On your marks, get set… GHOST! Bedminster’s Haunted Halloween Trail is back.

This Halloween, Bedminster BID is launching a haunted Halloween trail around Bedminster this October for children and adults alike to get monster-hunting throughout the spooky season.

Families can get ghoul-hunting from Saturday 15th October by picking up a Halloween map and their first sticker from one of the 20 participating businesses in the local area, which lays out a trail throughout Bedminster for them to follow.

Get ready to scout out the mini-monsters lurking in shop windows, and if they dare to enter, collect a sticker from each business to complete their haunted Halloween map.

‘Halloween stickers can be found hiding in shop windows around Bedminster - if you dare to enter, collect a sticker from them to help complete your map!’

Once participants have completed their map with all its 20 stickers, they can share their best snaps of them with it on social media, tagging the Bedminster BID channels, to be in with a chance of winning a £100 prize!

With Halloween on the horizon, and the Christmas season fast approaching, Bedminster’s best-loved businesses are gearing up for a busy festive season, meaning a whole host of brand new gift ideas lining the shelves and tempting local visitors.

The Haunted Halloween Map also gives families the chance to get out and explore the great outdoors in their local area this upcoming half term. With the trail spanning 20 shops along Bedminster Parade, East Street, Cannon Street and North Street, families can expect a whole day of Halloween fun while on their wild ghoul-hunt.

‘This year’s Haunted Halloween Trail will see a whole new bunch of monsters hiding out in Bedminster’s shops for adults and children alike to hunt down and collect.’

The local businesses taking part in this year’s Halloween Trail include leading arts and craft hotspots such as Farahway Cafe, No Frills Knitting and Trylla, as well as independent food suppliers such as Five Acre Farm Shop, Southville Deli and Occasion Cakes.

The Halloween Trail is also highlighting older businesses that are iconic to Bedminster’s shopping scene, such as Lion Stores, and new businesses to the area, including North Street Cheese Company, who opened for business earlier this year on 5th September.

Local businesses on East Street will also be participating in the trail, from vegan junk-food restaurant Vx Bristol, to East Street Emporium, which is the home of over 60 independent creative businesses, and second-hand, independent vintage shop Revival Market.

To begin your monster hunt, drop by one of the 20 participating businesses from Saturday 15th October to pick up your map and first sticker. We can’t wait to see your completed maps!

Participating businesses in this year’s Bedminster Haunted Halloween Trail include: Five Acre Farm Shop, Occasion Cakes and Catering, Glass Designs Gallery, Southville Deli, Compuwave, Farahway Cafe, Mon Pote, Lion Stores, Upfest, Bristol Flooring, Independent Design Collective, North Street Cheese Company, Trylla, No Frills Knitting, Emporium, Vx Bristol, East Street Emporium, Miss Millie’s, Revival Market, Alpha Bottle Shop and Tap.

While you can pick up a map from one of the participating stores to get collecting, you can also download your map from home here!

On 1st October, over 50 food and drink stalls will showcase the very best of local hospitality at eat:Festival, which will be transforming East Street into a local hospitality market named eat:Bedminster.

TRADERS INVITE YOU TO EAST STREET

HERE’S YOUR GUIDE TO EASY ACCESS TO EAST STREET!

Work has commenced in earnest to transform Bedminster Green next to East Street. The first stage of the exciting project is to install sustainable heating and travel routes along Malago Road. East Street is still very much open for business with plenty of local carparks open for shoppers.

DRIVING

Malago Road and Dalby Avenue are now one-way southbound, driving out of the city. For cars arriving from South Bristol access to East Street is still very straight forward.

PARKING

There are four carparks within a 5-minute walk of East Street, including two right next to the shops. These are open and accessible:

  • Little Paradise Carpark – Accessible from Malago Road by turning right onto Stafford Street (Free for one hour and only £2.00 for 4 hours).

  • Hereford Street Carpark – Accessible from Malago Road (50p per hour)

The two which are closest to the top of East Street:

  • Sheene Road Carpark – Accessible from Sheene Road (50p per hour)

  • Diamond Street Carpark - Accessible from St John Street (90-minute limit)

ON STREET / RESIDENTS PARKING

Opposite the Green you can turn right onto Little Paradise. There is on street parking available with the RingGo. Parking is free on Bedminster Parade for 30 minutes.

DISABLED PARKING

At the end of Little Paradise there is a disabled carpark which enables access to East Street via a pedestrian walkway. For those looking to park further down the road, Mill Lane features a number of on street disabled spaces with easy access to East Street.

BUSES

The Northbound number 24 now comes down East Street. The Southbound route is unaffected. All other bus routes to East Street are running as normal for easy access to East Street’s shops.

WALKING AND CYCLING

It’s still easy to get around East Street on foot or by bike. If you’re thinking about getting active, the TravelWest website (travelwest.info) has information on travel planning, the borrow a bike scheme and more. On Thursday 17 March, join Dr Bike on East Street if your bike needs a little maintenance.

NEW SHOPPING

There are several exciting new shops opening on East Street with more planned over the coming weeks. East Street Favourite Wilko’s now allows dogs in store, great news for those also taking their furry friends to visit one of the street’s longest running businesses, Pet’s Palace. BEDMINSTER CHRISTMAS CAROLS

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Buddy the Elf

Well if singing out loud is the way to spread a little cheer, then Bedminster is the place to be! We love a good sing-a-long here in BS3, which is why we’re bringing some good old fashioned Christmas Carols outside your favourite Bedminster pubs.

We’ve got three festive evenings lined up for you across North, East and West Street - so come along with your family and friends, sing your merry little hearts out and truly get into the spirit of Christmas!

Wednesday 1st December, 2021

Kicking off our trio of carols is the University of Bristol choir, who will be singing some classic carols at the Hen and Chicken at 7pm. Head on down in your festive-best, grab a pint of your favourite ale and settle in for an evening of Christmas fun.

Where and when

Thursday 9th December, 2021

Next up on the Christmas carol hit list, head on down to the Rope Walk at 7pm for the musical talents of Break Out Voices. Grab a drink, cosy up and prepare for a festive night to remember as we watch outside the East Street pub.

Where and when

Tuesday 14th December, 2021

Last but by no means least, the annual West Street Carols service is returning for 2021 with a traditional festive carol service by the Bedminster Citadel Salvation Army Band. The service starts at 6pm outside Mezzaluna and there'll be plenty of music and festive ditties to sing along to…along with deliciously-warming mulled wine.

Where and when

TUESDAY 21ST DECEMBER, 2021

We’re treating Bedminster to one more festive evening of carols with the Arnos Vocale Choir. They’ll be performing outside the Steam Crane on North Street underneath a cosy shelter with fairy lights! Expect those classic carols and an electric keyboard to bring in the Christmas countdown in style!

Where and when

  • The Steam Crane, 4-6 North Street

  • Tuesday 21st, 6pm

This project is brought to you by Bristol City Council to support the safe economic recovery of the city’s high streets following the pandemic. It is delivered as part of the Reopening High Streets Safely Fund from the European Regional Development Fund and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Let's get Festive in Bedminster

It really is the most wonderful time of the year. The nights are darker but the lights are brighter. There’s festive flavoured hot drinks in all of our favourite coffee shops and mince pies are being baked as we speak.

In true Bedminster style, there’s tons of things to do in our beloved BS3 postcode, all hosted by our favourite friendly faces.

Whether you want to sample every Christmas drink Bemmy has to offer, to make a festive wreath with your friends over some cocktails, or to find the ultimate Christmas jumper to wear for the next few months - look no further than your own doorstep because Bedminster has got you covered.

This year, West Street Carols is coming to Bedminster on the 14th of December outside Mezzaluna at 6pm. Swing by, grab a mince pie and warm up with some mulled wine as we really get into the spirit of Christmas.

If you’re looking to pick up your tree this year, then you only have to wander down the road to visit your local traders. There’s Ashton Fruit Shop, Lion Stores, Hugo’s and East Street Fruit & Veg to grab your trees from this year, and don’t forget the many shops on the high street to pick up your tree decorations like Monpote, Casper, Glass Designs, Wilkos and more!
